Apex Legends Leak Reveals New Upcoming Characters
Ever since Respawn Entertainment has launched its battle royale game Apex Legends, the game has been in the limelight either for its number of downloads or for its gaming experience. Players of Apex Legends are still trying to figure out their gaming style and hence their favorite Legends’ (character) skill set and their abilities.
According to an area of Apex Legends‘ game files called Post Launch Playlists, a new playlist will be added to the game on Week 8, and it is at this time that what is being called the “Octane Preview” will be added to the title. So, if the term “Week 8” is being used to mean the eighth week since the game’s release, then players should expect this new Legend Character to show up at some point between March 25, 2019 and April 1, 2019.
According to an earlier leak, Octane will apparently have a Stimpack, which will likely grant them additional boosts with health regeneration, movement speed, and more.
Then again, all of this could be an elaborate ruse. Maybe Respawn is pulling a fast one on fans and using codenames or even swapping characters in the files. Who knows, we just might see Wattson arrive next month. Purely speculation at this point, but anything is possible.
Several Twitter users posted screenshots of purported leaks that may have been data mined from Apex’s source code, which appear to show a number of new legends and abilities.
Two possible future legends found by data miners seem to have the names “Octane” and “Wattson”. See Pic below:
Besides the names, leakers were able to find potential abilities for each character. Octane appears to have a “Stimpack” ability, while Wattson has a Tesla Trap probably some kind of trap that damages players as they’re trapped, or stops them from moving for a certain amount of time.
Octane’s “Stimpack” is more vague, it could be a boost to health of ultimate charge, or something else entirely. There’s just not enough information yet to know for sure.
Besides Wattson and Octane, leakers also found a number of possible new characters, but whether or not they’re all legit is still unknown:
Besides naming the potential new legends, there’s no information on when any of the new characters will be available or if they ever will.
Still, data mined leaks have proven to be somewhat accurate in the past, so fans will just have to wait and see if this one is legit or not.
The first big content drop for Apex Legends is scheduled for sometime in March, with the launch of the battle pass. We’re likely going to hear about some of these in the lead-up.
