Control AWE Expansion Launches Later This Month On All Platforms

Remedy’s Control is crossing universes with the AWE expansion. During today’s PlayStation State of Play, a new trailer revealed that the AWE expansion is set to release on August 27. The AWE expansion centres around the Investigation Sector, which was sealed off from the rest of the building many years before Jesse Faden’s arrival. While exploring, you will figure out what happened there and attempt to put an end to a mysterious being haunting the area. You can check out the trailer below:

As the name and trailer show, Alan Wake is coming back. Just what role he has to play remains to be seen though. Remedy explained in a blog post that other games may be connected in a kind of “Remedy Connected Universe.” We’ll have to see just how this plays out.

The AWE expansion is also introducing a grenade launcher mode for the Service Weapon called Surge, which will be useful against new kinds of Hiss. There’s also boss rush mode being added through a new altered item.

What’s more, Control players will also receive a free update in August. Expect an all-new upgrade for Launch, called Multi-Launch, as well as additional checkpoints that have been added to more challenging missions, as well as additional quality of life features. (Stay tuned for more info!) August’s update also brings about additional usability options in Assist Mode, which can be enabled or disabled separately from each other in Control’s options menu.

Players who own the Digital Deluxe version of Control for PlayStation 4 and season pass holders on all platforms will automatically receive The AWE expansion on August 27. Players who own the base game for PC, PlayStation 4 or Xbox One can purchase the expansion season pass for $24.99, providing access to the previously released expansion immediately, The Foundation, along with AWE when it releases on August 27. Expansions can also be purchased a la carte on all platforms available for $14.99 each.
