Cuphead Sold Over 1 Million Copies Already In 2 Weeks
StudioMDHR started working on Cuphead in 2010, and the studio is only two people, brothers Chad & Jared Moldenhauer. Its stunning 1930s cartoon aesthetic is inspired by cartoonists like Max Fleischer, who created characters such as Betty Boop and Popeye.
On its website today, developer StudioMDHR announced that Cuphead has gone platinum, having sold more than 1 million copies since launch. It did not provide any kind of breakdown between Xbox One and PC, which are the only two platforms Cuphead is available on currently.
As StudioMDHR stated:
We have worked tirelessly over the past few years to deliver a game that remained true to our vision and we are both humbled and excited that so many people from around the world are playing Cuphead–it truly makes it all worth it,” wrote developers Chad and Jared Moldenhauer.
“Cuphead has only been out for two weeks and we never could have dreamed of the reception we’ve received from our amazing fans! Today, we wanted to take a moment to thank each and every one of you for your support. We’re excited to share that Cuphead has gone platinum with over 1 million units sold”
We strongly suggest getting this game if you still haven’t. Cuphead is a 2D game that focuses on boss battles. In Cuphead you play as Cuphead or Mugman (in single player or local co-op) as you traverse strange worlds, acquire new weapons, learn powerful super moves, and discover hidden secrets while you try to pay your debt back to the devil.
Cuphead is out for the PC and Xbox One, and by all appearances the bulk of players are actually on PC: More than 575,000 people own it on Steam, according to Steam Spy, and it’s also available on GOG and the Microsoft Store.
