Daymare: 1998 Is Coming To Consoles In April
Resident Evil players will want to keep an eye on another survival horror game that’s coming to consoles pretty soon. It’s called Daymare: 1998, and it’s about as close to a Resident Evil game as you can get considering how it started out as a project that looked to remake the success of the original Resident Evil 2. It’s been out for PC players on Steam for a while now, and on April 28th, it’s coming to the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
The trailer released around the game’s launch shows off some gameplay of Daymare: 1998 from one of the character’s perspectives. From over-the-shoulder shots to twisted zombie creations, the Resident Evil influences are evident. Just like Resident Evil has its nefarious Umbrella Corp., Daymare: 1998 has its own overpowered company called Hexacore Biogenetics that’s turned the town of Keen Sight, Idaho, into a horror movie.
There is only a bit longer that gamers interested in Daymare: 1998 will have to wait to finally get to enjoy it on the PS4 and Xbox One. Sure, they could have been all in on the PC version of the game for a while now, but the success there has made it possible for Invader Studios and All In! Games to bring the title over to the consoles. Something that was originally planned a while back but I am sure that the great reception for Daymare: 1998 made it so those plans did not get scrapped as it has for other titles out there that will not be named right now. We will just focus on the title that we have here and move right along as we head toward the April 28th release date for this version of the game.
About Daymare: 1998
Daymare: 1998 is a third-person survival horror game with hardcore survival mechanics and unyielding enemies. It requires a strategic approach to combat and puzzles and offers a multi-character perspective of the story, revealing deep and obscure lore.
The scene is set with a secret research facility, a deadly chemical weapon, and a special security team tasked with investigating an incident with the potential to become more than a routine security breach. Follow the steps of an elite soldier, a helicopter pilot, and a forest ranger as they play out their roles in an event that transforms one peaceful small town into a dead-zone and its citizens into bloodthirsty monsters. Take the creatures down first, and then look for any clues or evidence that you can piece together to make sense of the chaos. Keep track of your inventory, as resources will be scarce! Anything can happen when your “daymare” become real.
The game is currently available on Steam, and has built a decent following since its release. Reviews have been fairly positive for the title, with many praising the old-school feel of the game and the way it modernizes the survival horror genre.
Daymare: 1998 releases for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on April 28th.
