EA Sports UFC 4 Releases In August On PS4 and Xbox One
As announced by EA Sports, EA Sports UFC 4 will launch on August 14 for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. Those that decide to pre-order the game will have a couple of extra fighters on their roster, including Anthony Joshua and Tyson Fury. Martial arts legend Bruce Lee will also be a part of the roster, but it seems players need to purchase the game through EA Sports UFC 2 or UFC 3 to get him. Beyond exclusive fighters, EA Sports UFC 4 pre-orders also come with special customization packs called Backyard and Kumite.
In UFC 4, players can create and shape their created character including fight style and personality and the game features unified progression across all modes. There are five MMA disciplines to go after, including wrestling, Jiu-Jitsu, and boxing, along with more than 1,600 pieces of gear and more than 120 emotes to make a character that you can connect to.
EA Sports UFC 4 is promising a number of updates and improvements over 2018’s game, UFC 3, including more responsive clinches, improved takedowns, and better ground mechanics. The game is also delivering a new career mode focusing on growth from minor divisions and onto the main UFC stage, along with new fight environments including the UFC APEX arena, Kumite arena, and The Backyard. There are also new multiplayer options in Blitz Battles and Online World Championships where players can test their mettle against other people across the world.
Series veterans are catered for too. Myriad create-a-fighter vanity items are all unlockable via engagement with the game (DLC purchases grant you the same items, but faster) and career mode features smart new touches. For instance, upgrading the effectiveness of a particular hold or move happens organically based on how often you use it in real-time while sparring, or in training, or during real fight. You can reject fight offers, and full WFA simulation means you can also play out an entire career in the minor leagues without ever joining the UFC, should you so choose.
Quick Fights, Invite-A-Friend bouts, 64-player ‘Blitz Battle’ tournaments and an Online World Championship series – where created fighters and licensed pros can tackle one another, at long last – make up the suite of net-based options. Especially cool is the inclusion of 12 fighter archetypes, which enable you to brawl across weight divisions: if you’re a flyweight and you’re matched with a heavyweight, the game will adjust your attributes before the bout to make it a fair contest.
