Fans Sign Petition To Add Tesla Cybertruck to Rocket League
Last week tech entrepreneur and living meme machine Elon Musk unveiled Tesla’s latest creation, the Cybertruck. With comparisons being made to it looking like a rejected Star Fox vehicle, to even being modded into Goldeneye 007, the Cybertruck has been the internet’s newest punching bag to hilarious effect. There have even been rumors that the Cybertruck will be in Cyberpunk 2077.
While some see this nothing more than a joke, there are others out there who are a bit more serious about the Cybertruck being added to their favourite games. One fan, by the name of Nikki Luzader, has gone to the extent of opening an online petition, asking Elon to put the Cybertruck in Rocket League:
Our great and generous Elon Musk has bestowed upon us a revolutionary vehicle whose beauty, power, and elegance is unsurpassed. Now my fellow gamers, we must fight for what is most undoubtedly meant for us to play with, because lets face it, most of us will never be able to afford one. Please sign this petition and fight to put it in the hands of the man with the plan himself. He will do it for us. He will do it for the memes. He will do it because he is the one and only: Elon Musk.
Currently, the petition sits at 2,152 have signed (by the time we posted this). In this update, Nikki says that they have informed both Psyonix and Tesla that she will be sending them a list of signatures once it crosses the 2,500 mark. Another list will be sent if the signatures reach the next milestone of 5,000. signatures, and the latest update was posted 10 hours ago at the time of this writing. The Cybertruck could make a great addition to the game, especially considering other famous vehicles like the Batmobile and the Back to the Future DeLorean are already playable, so it wouldn’t feel out of place. Even Rocket League and Stranger Things have crossed over in the past.
The new Rocket League Season Pass was also just announced last week, featuring a Japanese/techno focused vibe, so attention is on the game at the moment now that its competitive circuit is done for the year. A big publicity stunt like this would be great press for the game.
Despite all of this, a Cybertruck appearance in any game is unlikely. Still, it’s hard to deny how well the Cybertruck’s ridiculous shape fits in with various game worlds. If anything, the Cyberpunk 2077 crossover seems more feasible, since Tesla would probably want to budget its attention to one of the most anticipated games of the generation rather than to an indie game from 2015. Unfortunately for Rocket League fans, the Cybertruck’s virtual car-inspired design will likely be staying in the real world.
Rocket League is available now on PC, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, and Xbox One.
