Hideo Kojima Might Be In Cyberpunk 2077
This official Cyberpunk 2077 tribute to Hideo Kojima is so good, I’m hoping he shows up in the game when it’s finally released. In celebration of Death Stranding‘s arrival on PC this week, the Cyberpunk 2077 Twitter account shared an image of Kojima astride a motorcycle prop at a recent convention. The team behind Cyberpunk then went one step better with a render that shows what Kojima would look like as a Night City resident, based on the IRL photograph.
The art, which you can check out below, basically just puts Kojima in all his glory on top of a motorcycle from Cyberpunk 2077. Given the accompanying photo, it would appear that it is largely based on a photo of Kojima on a physical version of the same motorcycle. Given that Keanu Reeves is a major presence in the upcoming title, could Kojima himself (or a character with his face) make an appearance?
From Tokyo to Night City — that's quite a ride…
Congratulations on the PC launch of Death Stranding, Kojima-san and the team!

They added so many details to turn Kojami into a Night City citizen, even robotic fingers. The motorcycle he’s sitting on is already in the game, the Kusanagi Yaiba and you’ll be able to ride it too. There were many cameos in Death Stranding so there’s potential this could be a teaser for Hideo’s appearance in Cyberpunk 2077.
With both Keanu Reeves and Grimes lending their voices and likenesses to Cyberpunk 2077, it isn’t too much of a stretch to suggest that Hideo Kojima might also find his way into the upcoming game. It’ll be interesting to see just how many recognisable faces make an appearance in Cyberpunk 2077.
The upcoming game revealed a bunch of new information during June’s Night City Wire event, and it’s expected that even more will come out as release creeps ever closer. The biggest announcement, however, was only adjacent to the game: a new Cyberpunk 2077 anime from Trigger and Netflix set for release in 2022.
Cyberpunk 2077 is scheduled to release for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC on November 19th.
