Nvidia Teases Limited Edition Cyberpunk 2077 RTX Graphics Card
The manufacturer is continuing its journey with a limited and themed graphics card. The last SKU to receive a custom ‘collectors’ edition’ was TITAN RTX for Star Wars fans. It is no secret that Cyberpunk 2077 (which is releasing on September 17th) will require a high-end machine. The minimum specs allegedly start at GeForce GTX 1060, but demo systems were running 1080 Ti. No official minimum and recommended specs were released yet. The game is also receiving RTX support, so to get the most out of the game, GeForce RTX graphics card will be required. The card teased by NVIDIA is clearly an RTX model.
Unfortunately, Nvidia’s latest tease isn’t necessarily for next-generation hardware. All we know is that this is a “limited edition” graphics card for CD Projekt Red’s Cyberpunk 2077, and that Nvidia plans to reveal more soon. Cyberpunk 2077 was originally due to release on April 16th, which makes sense given the timing of this tease. Cyberpunk 2077 was delayed until September 17th, but that doesn’t mean that Nvidia’s customer Cyberpunk 2077 graphics card should be delayed. At this time it seems likely that we will see this new Geforce graphics card at GTC 2020, which is due to take place in March, where Nvidia will likely market the importance of its RTX feature set moving forward.
What remains to be seen is whether or not this new graphics card is a current-generation graphics card or a next-generation model. Is Nvidia planning an RTX 2080 Ti Super, or is this graphics card due to be an RTX 3000 series GPU model? Cyberpunk 2077 is due to feature support for raytracing on PC, making it an ideal tie-in for a limited edition Geforce graphics card.
Below are the actual tweets from Cyberpunk 2077 and Nvidia official accounts:

While the picture is blurry, the first thing we can note is that the card features the same cooler and shroud as the existing GeForce RTX 20 series graphics cards. The difference is the color theme with NVIDIA going for a more black and yellow color tone on the card which is reminiscent of the color style used in Cyberpunk 2077. It won’t surprise us if this is indeed a limited Cyberpunk 2077 edition graphics card as NVIDIA has done limited and collector edition cards in the past.
Not having inside information on NVIDIA’s plans so far, we’re guessing that there will in fact be a new architecture launched at GTC next month, but as with Volta, it’ll be laser-focused on scientific, financial, and other enterprise use. It could be that whatever this architecture becomes will eventually trickle down to GeForce, but we doubt NVIDIA is in any kind of hurry, as its current high-end GPUs still rule the performance charts.
At this point, the two social media feeds have shared a short lived back-and-forth, ending with a blurry image of a would-be video card. Who knows, maybe this is a custom RTX 2077? RTX 2077 Ti? Maybe, this was the reason for the recent Cyberpunk 2077 delay? Either way, if it’s coming in September (or even before then) you might have to start saving now.
We also can’t ignore the fact that Ampere GPUs are just around the corner with NVIDIA hinting at a release of their brand new architecture at GTC 2020 in March. It is possible that NVIDIA might unveil this new card as well (or cards in case of a full lineup) at GDC 2020 with a proper launch around E3 or Computex 2020 but nothing is confirmed for now so stay tuned to see what NVIDIA has.
