Path Of Exile 2 Beta Starts Late 2020 At The Earliest

Path of Exile 2 was officially announced at ExileCon and it looks very intriguing and compelling. Grinding Gear Games has now confirmed when the game will be available for the public. The Path of Exile 2 website confirms that the first beta for the game will begin in “very late 2020” at the soonest. There is no projection of a release date for the full game, however.

The trailer below starts with a loan hero escaping their own execution, before transitioning to the traditional top-down view, and showing off the game’s new enemies and abilities. The dark and terrifying enemies and environments of the first game look to be returning this time around, but the trailer fades out to reveal a character running around a boat, suggesting that players may travel to new and distant lands this time around.

The announcement also reveals that the game will features a new seven-act storyline, as well as the tantalizing phrase, “one game, two campaigns.” This Players can choose whether they’d like to play the Path of Exile 2 campaign or the original game’s campaign, but both will lead to the same endgame. Path of Exile 2 will also feature all of the same expansion content that has been added to Path of Exile since its original release in 2013.

Path of Exile 2 will come with 19 new Ascendancy Classes, these will come from the same archetypes as the Exiles from the original game, but feature different abilities. There will also be a new Skill Gem system that replaces the previous skill system, and allows players the same level of customization, without some of the old system’s hassles.

Path of Exile 2 also retains all the expansion content created over the last six years, and adds a new skill system, 19 new Ascendency Class, and features visual improvements and engine upgrades. Grinding Gear Games showed off 14-minutes of Path of Exile 2 gameplay below at the event as well.

Grinding Gear Games says there’s no release date yet for Path of Exile 2. A beta for the sequel won’t arrive until at least “very late 2020” according to the developers. But in the meantime, there will still be Path of Exile expansion content coming out on a regular three-month cycle. As previously revealed, these expansion content will be available for both Path of Exile 1 and 2.

Grinding Gear Games makes it clear on the Path of Exile 2 website that the game doesn’t have a release date yet. However, it does mention that the developer would like to start a beta by late 2020 at the earliest like we said above, and that development of Path of Exile 2 won’t slow down the regular three month cycle of expansions for the original game that players have become accustomed to.
