Terminator Resistance Gameplay Video Is Released

A new official Terminator Video Game has arrived, previously known to fans as Terminators The Video Game, the FPS game is finally here and the final title is Terminator: Resistance. This game has been in development for a very long time but surprisingly the game’s release is very soon.

With a new Terminator film now at cinemas, it’s not exactly surprising that a video game release should also be just around the corner too. Albeit, this gaming release (at least to my knowledge) is purely incidental rather than directly tied in to it.

Now, in the past, the Terminator franchise has seen a very mixed bag of results when coming onto consoles. In fact, thinking about it, it’s actually hard to name a Terminator gaming release that was good with the vast majority falling into the ‘sub-par to ok’ category. Terminator Resistance, however, is surely looking to change that and with the release of a 30-minute gameplay trailer (Video below), we can actually get to see some of the mechanics and form an idea as to whether this is going to be a hit or a miss.

For those that don’t know: Terminator: Resistance is a first-person shooter set during the Future War scenario that was glimpsed at in the James Cameron films. The story of the title which is coming to PS4, Xbox One, and PC takes place in a post-apocalyptic Los Angeles, roughly 30 years after Judgement Day. The game notably stars a new hero to the universe, Jacob Rivers, a solider in the Resistance led by Jon Connor. That said, despite being a lowly private, Rivers finds himself targeted as the latest threat to Skynet, marking him for termination.

“Skynet may be destined to lose the war, but at what cost to Jacob? Experience the events leading up to the decisive final battle for the fate of mankind in the war against the machines,” adds an official description.

Terminator: Resistance is set to release on November 15 via the PS4, Xbox One, and PC, but only in Europe. In North America, the game won’t release until December 3. Below, you can read more about the title, courtesy of an official rundown of its key features:

  • Resist the machines! Fight against a selection of iconic enemies from the films, including the T-800, as well as a host of enemies that are brand new to the Terminator universe.
  • Equip an arsenal of plasma weaponry to run and gun or sneak and hack through sprawling environments! The world isn’t as forgiving as it used to be so you’ll need to search for scraps to trade and craft.
  • Choose the kind of hero you want to be by levelling up your skills while exploring post-Apocalyptic Los Angeles. Complete story missions to rise through the ranks of the Resistance as well as side-quests to help your friends.
  • Change the fate of mankind! Protect a motley crew of survivors, each with their own motivations and backstories. The actions you take throughout the game will impact their survival and change the ending you get.
