The Joker And Harley Quinn Are Coming To PUBG

PUBG Corp and DC have teamed up to cram The Joker and Harley Quinn into PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds, at least as skins. This version of the deranged duo is from the fascinatingly awful Suicide Squad.

Beyond the announcement trailer (Below), PUBG Corp. didn’t offer much in the way of details about when and how Joker and Harley would appear or how their inclusion will impact the game. The developer simply confirmed a fairly obvious teaser from last week that hinted at a prison break. However, it does look like Harley Quinn’s bat might become a new melee weapon for PUBG.

The trailer features plenty of close-up shots of both Joker and Harley Quinn, in their gear from Suicide Squad, as they apparently bust out of prison on Miramar. On the surface level, it seems as though these are just skins for now, though perhaps some kind of jail break game mode might be coming in the next update?

The trailer does seem to imply that the Joker is busting Harley Quinn out of prison, and we’ve already seen the success of other limited time game modes to PUBG that mix up the way we play the game. If this is a teaser for a new kind of game mode, then fans will surely appreciate another way to enjoy PUBG that doesn’t involve sitting in a house praying the enemy doesn’t come inside to loot while you only have a pistol.

It would be interesting if the PUBG Harley and Joker skins were used in a unique implementation of Duos. Maybe it could be a 2-vs-98 mode where Joker and Harley get access to some special abilities or weapons to help them take down 98 other players. The “live on and play” that is part of the Tweet and description announcing the two may be a hint for what’s coming, but we don’t have much else to go on.

These kind of collaborations are fun, and after the success of Fortnite‘s inclusion of Thanos, it was a good move on PUBG Corporation’s part to seek out their own superhero collaboration. There’s no release date yet for the Joker and Harley skins in PUBG, but given the announcement, I’d bet the PUBG x Suicide Squad crossover will appear sooner rather than later.
