Untitled Goose Game Is Getting A Local Co-op Mode For Free

Untitled Goose Game is getting a free update on Sept. 23: A second terrible goose will be added to the game. Yes, this means that Untitled Goose Game will have a local two-player cooperative mode. It’s worth noting that this will be a free update so if you already own Untitled Goose Game you won’t need any additional purchases. In addition, House House stated that in line with this new addition the Untitled Goose Game will also be released on some new gaming platforms PC players will be able to download it from Steam and itch.io, while PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch gamers can start pre-ordering physical copies of this awesome game.

Untitled Goose Game’s popularity has not faltered since its release last year. Still, the update could not come at a more opportune time, especially after recent the reveal of Untitled Goose Game’s physical edition release coming later this year. The combination of the chaotic update and the game’s physical release will likely bring in a whole new flock of Untitled Goose Game players.

Adding a second goose to Untitled Goose Game fits in well with the overall chaotic energy that is the source of the game’s fun. However, it is worth wondering whether House House could have gone further with this update. From what it’s said so far, the update will have players go through the same checklist as the single player game, but this time with a friend. The game’s objectives, while often challenging and requiring thought and puzzle skills, could still clearly be solved with just one goose. Adding in extra levels or tasks, or even slightly adapting the current game to-do list, could add to the game’s difficulty and fun. Plus, local multiplayer is incredibly limiting, especially in our current socially distanced world. Those reservations aside, this new update should help Untitled Goose Game continue to see success for a long time.

Alongside this free update, developer House House is also bringing Untitled Goose Game to new platforms: Steam and itch.io. If a physical copy is more your thing, preorders for a physical version of Untitled Goose Game for PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch are open. These are set to be released on Sept. 29 from iam8bit.

Untitled Goose Game is available now on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC.
