Watch Dogs Legion Announced And Looks Wild
As previously rumoured, the game has you playing a full gang of DedSec members, and sees you gathering new recruits drawn from what would traditionally be open world NPCs. Every cinematic in the game will change depending on the characters you choose to play as, from ex-MI5 spies to old ladies.
Watch Dogs Legion was unleashed on the world this evening with a lengthy gameplay trailer to kick off Ubisoft’s E3 2019 live showcase. To be honest, it was just amazing to actually get some gameplay for once, it’s been in short supply in the big conferences this year.
As expected, Watch Dogs Legion is set in an eerily lifelike rendition of London, complete with landmarks like Big Ben, the London Eye, Trafalgar Square, and, er, Camden Borough Market we guess. Being set in London, colorful language is in plentiful supply. Everyone’s a bellend, twat, wanker, bint, or bollockhead. Danny Dyer would feel right at home here.
Creative director Clint Hocking has acknowledged that the game takes place in a post-Brexit London, in which the UK has become a surveillance state.
It may seem unusual for a French video game company to create something like Legion, based on its neighbor across the English channel. Brexit itself has become a politically charged issue within the British government, particularly because of economists’ fears about the long-term damage the move could have on economies around the world.
One of the things Ubisoft said will make the game stand out is that you can “recruit” every character you encounter in the game to your resistance fighting group. This, the company said, will give the game a more dynamic feel
Watch Dogs Legion is out on March 6th 2020 for PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Google Stadia.
