World War Z GOTY Edition And Switch Release Announced
World War Z is currently in development for Nintendo Switch and Publisher Focus Home Interactive has also announced that World War Z GOTY Edition is launching on May 5 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. The GOTY package includes the full base game, a new location with three new missions, and all upcoming and existing content included in the Season Pass. The GOTY package will feature all-new content, including three missions set in the French city of Marseille, four additional characters, as well as all previously released character and weapon skin packs.
The content is listed below:
- New Episode! 3 new PvE missions in the French city of Marseille with its own maps, story and characters.
- Weapon Packs! The Lobo Weapon Pack, Biohazard Weapon Pack, Special Operations Forces Weapon Pack, new Last Aid Weapon Pack, plus 1 new upcoming weapon pack.
- Characters Packs! The Professionals Character Skin Pack and War Heroes Character Skin Pack.
In addition, there is a Switch port of World War Z in the works but very little detail is known about it. There is no release date as of yet, but it will likely have all of the content that has been released for the other versions of the game.
On top of this, purchasing the GOTY Edition grants you access to a year’s worth of free content added to World War Z since it launched. This includes the wave-based Horde Mode Z, Xbox One-PC cross-play, new PvE missions and enemies, a weekly challenge mode, extreme six-skulls difficulty setting, and more, as well as a new playable class with a unique skill tree and abilities, which is coming in a free update later this year.
The developer also announced through the game’s official forums that a brand-new playable class, which will feature “a unique skill tree and abilities”, will be released in a free update later this year. World War Z GOTY edition is going to hit PS4, Xbox One and PC (via Epic Games Store) on May 5 so the wait is not that long. As for the Switch edition, we only know that it is under development and no official release date has been announced yet.
